About Alunorf
Alunorf is the the world's largest aluminium rolling and remelt plant. The company has 2100 employees, and it is a joint venture between Novelis and Hydro, where both companies have 50% of the shares.
Project Scope
Alunorf has implemented several Quintiq applications in the last five years. These include hot line scheduling, a company planner and logistics optimization, the latter being all the train movements. Now Quintiq and Alunorf have made an agreement which will lead to an integrated implementation of all planning & scheduling processes. Scheduling for logistics, Melting & Casting, Hot line, Cold Bay/Finishing and company planning as well as collaborative planning & scheduling with their suppliers and customers.

Novelis Rogerstone in Wales, United Kingdom has implemented Quintiq to optimize their production planning and increase output. Novelis is a leading aluminium producing company. Before, the old system provided insufficient information regarding the true situation within the production plant. Therefore, the schedulers had to base their scheduling decisions on incomplete and sometimes partially incorrect information. As a result, schedules would have been suboptimal.

About Aleris
The Koblenz plant of the Aleris Europe is producing semi-finished parts, e.g. for the aviation and aerospace industry, heat exchanger production or engine building.
Project Scope
From casting, up to hot rolling, detailed planning will be harmonized, synchronised and made much more efficient. With the new detailed planning for the production of hot rolled products, the production processes of the Koblenz plant will be faster, more simple and safer. For Aleris this means higher plant utilization, a significant reduction in inventory and increased delivery reliability at lower cost.
