Customer Support Engineer

As a Research & Development (R&D) Customer Support Engineer you will be the main contact between business-unit support consultants and developers.

Quintiq delivers software that is used in the primary operational processes of our customers, which means the up-time of systems is vital. Customers include large companies and factories which use our software in 24/7 business critical operations. For this reason R&D customer support engineers need to be highly stress resistant, inventive, creative, flexible, have a strong sense of urgency, be accurate, highly self-organized and definitely love multi-tasking. Their motivation is a well-served and satisfied customer.

Your main area of responsibility will be providing R&D support, involved in solving operation-critical problems, analyzing software problems, handling requests for change, answering technical questions about our software and productizing software knowledge. As R&D Support engineer you are the face of R&D and you will be dealing with problems that are coming in from business-unit support. The issues come to you because they are highly technical, complex and urgent. Since Quintiq is a rapidly growing organization, we expect you to contribute to process improvement.

Job requirements

  • Background at HBO+/academic level in computer science or business administration with sound computer science skills
  • High abstraction ability
  • Strong analytic skills
  • Object-oriented way of thinking
  • Experience in one or more object-oriented 3GL's (C++/#, Delphi, Java) or 4GL's (Prolog, LISP, Aion, etc.)
  • Knowledge of SQL is a clear advantage
  • A minimum condition for this job is experience with object-oriented development (UML or other OO modeling and programming language).

Department profile

The Research & Development department within Quintiq is responsible for the development of the Quintiq Application Suite, a software product for the creation and deployment of advanced planning and scheduling solutions. You will be working in a close-knit, informal atmosphere, with highly capable and friendly colleagues. The R&D department is organized into small, flexible teams, solving complex software engineering issues for different aspects of the Quintiq Application Suite, providing an interesting, varied and challenging environment where everyone has the room to extend and develop their skills.
