• DB Schenker Rail

DB Schenker Rail, the transportation and logistics arm of Deutsche Bahn, runs 1.5 million trains, 3,600 locomotives, 107,000 freight cars and 32,500 employees across Europe, making it Europe’s largest rail freight fleet. DB Schenker Rail has own companies, subsidiaries, affiliates and joint ventures operating in 15 countries in Europe.

Planning this network, with its many constraints, is a complex, dynamic process. The Quintiq planning solution was able to take all of these constraints into account to provide optimized plans in real-time. Today, DB Schenker Rail Deutschland, DB Schenker Rail Nederland and DB Schenker Rail Scandinavia plan and optimize all drivers' schedules and locomotives with Quintiq.

Thanks to the great results following the first three Quintiq implementations, Quintiq’s platform will be deployed across the entire European organization to solve intricate rail freight planning puzzles. This includes managing driver qualifications, processing traction knowledge and ensuring locomotive and track restrictions are adhered to.
We chose Quintiq because they are able to deliver solutions configured to address all of our needs, empowering us to create a Europe-wide integrated operations network while reducing costs and improving customer service. DB Schenker Rail has used Quintiq for several years across its Netherland, German and Danish networks, and have had positive experiences and excellent results. We are excited to extend our relationship with Quintiq for the duration of this project.
