• Waitrose

Waitrose is the food division of the British retailer and cooperative, the John Lewis Partnership. As of July 2009, there were 210 branches across the United Kingdom. The company differentiates itself from competitors by offering high quality food and good customer service.

The Quintiq supply chain planning and optimization software was implemented as a centralized solution for all transport planning, dispatch, and yard management across the four distribution centers and 210 branches of Waitrose.

The Quintiq solution is used to support the planning and execution of Waitrose's delivery fleet as well as its subcontracted fleet. It is also used to support full network planning for branch fulfillment at both the tactical and operational levels.

A second project at Waitrose saw the implementation of a workforce planning solution. This allowed Waitrose's branches to interact with the central system and allocate man-hours so planners could try different scenarios and “what-if’ proposals to maximize opportunities at the local level.
To organize and plan multiple fleets from one central location gives visibility and flexibility throughout the entire planning process.
