New planning system helps Railion Benelux to substantially increase punctuality of its cargo trains

As of December 2007 Railion became part of the DB Schenker logistics group, itself a subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn.

Today Quintiq and Ab Ovo announce that Railion Benelux has achieved excellent results with their new planning system. After having gone live successfully, the punctuality of the trains has increased far above 90% (July 2002: 95%), the delivery performance has increased and a payback of one year has been realized.

The planning system has been built with Quintiq planningsoftware and Ab Ovo consultancy. Railion Benelux uses Quintiq software to plan its locomotives and locomotive drivers. The total project (design, build and implementation) has been realized in a period of six months, which is fast for the transport sector.

The planning process at Railion Benelux has improved considerably through the consultancy of Ab Ovo and the Quintiq software. The utilization of the locomotives and locomotive drivers has been optimized greatly and system management- and maintenance cost have decreased considerably.
