Ovako Wire Selects Quintiq for Improving Planning and Scheduling of After-treatment Activities

January 16, 2006 | 's-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands
Ovako Wire BV in Alblasserdam has signed an agreement with software supplier Quintiq for the delivery and implementation of the Quintiq solution for Advanced Planning and Scheduling. Ovako Wire will use the software for optimizing its activities in its so-called after-treatment area, where steel wire is treated to meet specific customer demands. As the process involves a great deal of variables, production planning is extremely complex. With the Quintiq solution Ovako will be able to take into account all variables and improve planning dramatically.

With Quintiq, Ovako wants to improve productivity by better utilizing its assets and further, the company would like to increase its delivery performance.

The Quintiq Suite can make the entire production process more transparent. Planning decisions can be visualized for better coordination between planning and production. The solution keeps track of production changes, for example due to breakdowns or maintenance, and enables real-time reporting of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Additionally, the suite saves time when developing and making changes in planning. The software also handles 'what if' scenarios.

"By developing and demonstrating a Proof of Concept for Ovako, Quintiq has convinced us that its solution can dramatically improve our after-treatment processes ", says Mr. Peter Betjes, Manager After-Treatment, at Ovako Wire. "With the Quintiq solution we will be able to better serve our customers and to gain more insight into our production processes."

"Ovako Wire is yet another customer in the metals industry that acknowledges the power of the Quintiq solution", says Victor Allis, CEO at Quintiq. "This new contract underlines our solid position in the metals sector. We are very enthusiastic to work with Ovako and help the company in realizing its strategic and operational goals."
