Impol goes live with Quintiq Company Planner for Aluminium Production

's-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands, June 07, 2007
Advanced planning & scheduling optimizes inventory, delivery performance and lead times

Impol plc located in Slovenia, one of Europe’s leading aluminium manufacturers, has implemented the Quintiq Company Planner for its Advanced Planning and Scheduling. Quintiq developed the software solution in close cooperation with its Austrian implementation partner Maul & Partner. After Impol chose the Quintiq solution in early 2006, the implementation started in June 2006 and was finished by the end of April 2007.

The Quintiq planning solution supports Impol to reach its most important business goals:

  • Delivery Reliability
  • Reduced Inventory
  • Shorter Lead Times

Quintiq enables Impol to have full visibility of its production capacity, which allows the planners to better utilize the necessary resources. The superior planning and optimization of the production processes lead to significant cost reductions and serve a better customer service level.

Impol executes a variety of aluminium manufacturing processes, ranging from melt/cast to hot rolling, cold rolling, foil products as well as hard and soft alloy extrusion.
The Quintiq Company Planner creates transparency throughout the entire production chain by visually linking the planning of each individual process step. On the basis of customer order specifications, Quintiq supports the selection of the optimal production path, taking into account the required delivery due dates, available capacity and available input materials. In the process, the Quintiq solution considers changes in production, e.g. shutdowns and maintenance work, in real-time and allows reporting and analysis of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

The Quintiq Company Planner supports Impol to assign order delivery dates based on the availability of both material and capacity.

"This allows us to better coordinate the flow of material through the plant. Our work-in-progress is declining, leading to lower inventory costs, shorter lead times and an improvement in delivery reliability" says Edvard Slaček, Quality Systems and Technical Support Manager at Impol. "We are very pleased with the strong commitment of the Quintiq team. Quintiq understood the existing IT environment. The positive experience has confirmed that Quintiq is the right choice for Impol, and we are looking forward to the roll-out of Company Planner at Impol Seval in Serbia, expected to start in July 2007".
