Quintiq scheduling solution for MCB

September 16, 2009 | 's-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands
Metal wholesale company and service provider MCB with its headquarters in Valkenswaard, has selected Quintiq's scheduling solution. MCB will deploy the Quintiq solution for the customer-specific processing of metal products. For MCB, it is important to improve customer satisfaction by timely delivery and superior delivery performance. The scheduling solution enables MCB to optimally combine customer orders and thereby make efficient use of the existing stock and machine capacity. By combining orders, loss of material can be minimized and costs can be reduced.

In the course of time, MCB has developed from a metal wholesale company into a wholesale company/service centre with a broad portfolio of standard and custom-made products. Fast growth has led to a strong increase of orders, especially orders that require machining. It mainly concerns creating strip and sheet metal from so-called coils, cutting of sheets and tubes, and surface treatment, including blasting/conserving and sanding of metal semi-finished products.

Quintiq's Service Centre solution is an Advanced Planning and Scheduling solution, tailored to the needs of metal service companies. It enables MCB to combine orders, resulting in optimal use of stock. It also results in reliable delivery, which contributes to customer satisfaction.

The implementation of the Quintiq-software coincides with the roll-out of a SAP system. Because of international growth, the need for multi-site support and for state of the art IT functionality, MCB's current ERP system was no longer able to support the business processes. Thanks to a strategic partnership between Quintiq and SAP, the Quintiq software seamlessly connects to the new ERP environment.

MCB selected Quintiq because of its vast experience in the metal industry and SAP integration. Many metal producers and suppliers use the Quintiq planning solutions. "In addition, Quintiq was able to demonstrate in a complex demo that its software offers the flexibility we need and provides a basis for possible optimization processes," said Peter Betjes, director Steel Service Centre at MCB. "The scheduling solution will not only help to further optimize our daily production planning and optimum use of stock. The system will also support us in the efficient delivery of daily orders to customers.''

"MCB is a leading player in the Dutch metal market. We are enthusiastic about MCB's choice for Quintiq and are looking forward to help MCB optimize its production planning with our software," said Arjen Heeres, COO at Quintiq.

Currently, SAP and Quintiq are working on a detailed planning for implementing their solutions.
