Quintiq to Provide Groupe TVA with Multi Resource Planning and Scheduling Solution

February 18, 2009 | 's-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands

Quintiq, a leading provider of Advanced Planning and Scheduling solutions, today announced that the Canadian media company Groupe TVA has chosen the Quintiq Broadcasting Planning Solution to schedule the workforce and resources of its Broadcasting sector. The solution will be seamlessly integrated with Groupe TVA's SAP system to streamline the scheduling process, reduce operational costs and improve overall productivity.

A leading diversified media company, Groupe TVA operates the top French-language broadcasting network in Québec. With more than 500 employees working in the Groupe TVA Broadcasting sector, Quintiq will integrate the scheduling of division's media personnel, including cameramen, electricians and sound technicians, with its equipment, studios and editing rooms.

Until now, Groupe TVA was planning its workforce and resources with a homegrown legacy system. In recent years, television production has changed and Groupe TVA's operations have grown to the point that the system can no longer support the dynamics and complexity of scheduling the production department. In addition, the legacy system was not integrated with Groupe TVA's SAP system, causing information gaps.

Consequently, Groupe TVA decided to start looking for a new software technology that could cover their scheduling requirements.

Quintiq proves to be a perfect fit
Groupe TVA had a clear vision of how the system should interact with the user and how the GUI should look, and it focused on finding an application that could be molded according to its specific business culture and directives. It conducted a thorough selection process that included an 'enhanced demonstration' in which Quintiq proved its ability to configure the system to exactly match Groupe TVA's user interface demands and scheduling specifications.

The unique Quintiq architecture, which combines standard software with a customer-configurable layer, ensures that Quintiq solutions have the flexibility to support any business operation. Equally important, all company-specific rules, regulations and constraints can be entered into the system guaranteeing the organization's planning needs are met, 100 percent.

"We were impressed with the flexibility of the Quintiq solution," commented Yves Beaupre, Vice-President Operations at Groupe TVA. "We have a specific way of operating and we wanted a planning and scheduling solution that would work in our environment. Quintiq demonstrated superior capabilities in functionality and in being able to mold to our needs."

The implementation process, handled by West Monroe Partners, has begun in January 2009. The solution is expected to be in production in Q3 - illustrating another significant advantage of the Quintiq architecture: rapid deployment. Quintiq solutions offer the benefits of standard software in terms of speed of implementation and use of best practices, without compromising on scalability, functionality or flexibility.

Joachim Arts, Vice President of Business Development, North America at Quintiq commented: "Groupe TVA's selection process gave us the opportunity to demonstrate how Quintiq solutions can be molded to exactly match our customers' requirements whether in functionality, the user interface or in planning requirements."
