August 28, 2012 | Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

NatSteel Holdings announced today that it is implementing Quintiq's Advanced Planning and Scheduling (APS) solution at its flagship plant in Singapore. With over 3,000 employees and an annual output of some 2 million tonnes of premium steel products for the construction industry in the region, NatSteel will utilize Quintiq's software to address the complexities of its supply chain and optimize several of the top steel provider's operational functions.

Tan Man Ee, Chief Supply Chain Officer of NatSteel Holdings (NSH), said, "We wanted to transform our overall supply chain. We reviewed several APS providers, and Quintiq's solution and strong expertise in the steel industry made it an obvious choice for us."

Tan cited flexibility as the key feature of Quintiq's software.  "In the Proof of Concept exercise, Quintiq demonstrated its unrivalled ability to be flexible enough to address the complex requirements of NatSteel's highly dynamic operations."

NatSteel decided to invest in Quintiq's solution in March 2011, and the implementation is now being executed in phases. "The Macro Planner and Company Planner solutions have gone live, the Upstream and Downstream Scheduler implementations are currently in progress, and the Logistics Planner will soon commence. Based upon the success of these implementations, we will consider rolling out the solution to our other sites outside of Singapore."

Sanjay Nair, Managing Director of Quintiq South East Asia & India, said, "Our Advanced Planning and Scheduling solution will allow the users at NatSteel to transform their operational planning by dynamically linking and integrating complex information and processes across the enterprise. Our software enables them to slash cycle times and provides full visibility to information at the enterprise level."
