Giebel Kaltwalzwerk GmbH Optimizes Production Planning with the Quintiq Scheduler

Giebel Kaltwalzwerk GmbH, headquartered in Iserlohn and part of the KNAUF INTERFER GROUP, produces high-quality cold-rolled strip steel. Giebel's core competencies also include electrolytic strip galvanization and strip tinning.
As part of its long term plans, Giebel was looking for a supplier to build a production planning and scheduling system that would support the scheduling of the entire value creation process; comprising coil and machine scheduling. In particular, the delivery timeliness of its sales order-based production was to be improved in order to better meet the market's demands for short-term deliverability.
Following an intensive supplier selection process, Giebel chose the Quintiq Scheduler. In addition to the strengths of the software solution, Quintiq’s extensive experience in the steel industry was also a main factor in the choice.
Bernd Jesorke, CEO of Giebel Kaltwalzwerk GmbH explains: "We were looking for a system that could simplify operational scheduling tasks, visualize the current capacity and demand situation, and increase the transparency of occupied time and capacity utilization. We have found the solution that guarantees all of this with the Quintiq Scheduler."
Eventually the Quintiq Scheduler will take over creating rule-based work schedules, determining rough-cut scheduling for delivery dates, consolidating customer orders into work orders (coil assignment) and creating production programs. The Quintiq Solution will support Giebel in simplifying operational planning tasks, visualizing the current capacity and demand situation, and increasing the clarity of occupied time and capacity utilization.
Francois Eijgelshoven, Vice President EMEA, explains: "With our Scheduler, users get a planning and scheduling solution that supports their order processing and simplifies input."
