Fairmount Santrol selects Quintiq to optimize its supply planning and production processes

June 10, 2015 | Radnor, PA, USA

Quintiq, a global leader in supply chain planning and optimization (SCP&O), announced today that Fairmount Santrol, Inc. (FMSA), has selected the Quintiq software platform to optimize its planning and scheduling processes.

Fairmount Santrol is one of the largest producers of sand and value-added coated sand proppants in North America. It is headquartered in Chesterland, Ohio, and has facilities in North America, Europe, and Asia. The company identified a need for a more accurate and efficient planning system to further minimize cost, improve supply chain efficiency and exceed their customers' service expectations.

"We realized our supply and distribution network had become too complex to be effectively managed and optimized through existing systems and processes," said Kevin Mills, director of supply chain at Fairmount Santrol. "Leveraging the 100%-fit software platform from Quintiq, we will now be able to optimize across all levels of our supply chain."

Fit to address the logistical complexities of Fairmount Santrol, the Quintiq software platform will optimize the company's sourcing and production processes through the management of production and transportation assets. The 100%-fit solution will allow Fairmount Santrol to properly manage key route and capacity constraints in order to reduce landed costs and lost production time. Additionally, the company will be able to react to changes in demand, thereby improving overall customer reliability while maximizing profitability.

"Working with the constraints in capacity and routing found at Fairmount Santrol, the Quintiq solution has been able to exhibit a 100%-fit that will match the company's KPIs and allow for real-time changes to keep pace with demand over time," said David Kenneson, general manager of Quintiq North America. "Our success with Fairmount Santrol will allow us to further exhibit the versatility of the Quintiq platform and allow for continued expansion into the mining and natural resources industries."
