Quintiq secures worldwide multi-million Euro deal with Alcan Aluminum

(Den Bosch, the Netherlands, May 7th 2003) Quintiq, supplier of scheduling and supply chain software solutions, today announced that it has been selected by Alcan, a leading manufacturer of aluminum and packaging, to be the standard for supply chain planning and scheduling software for the company's Rolled Products business groups. Quintiq software will be supporting all of Alcan's rolling plants in Europe, plus additional plants in North America. The first phase of implementation is at Sierre Switzerland, Nachterstedt Germany, plus Oswego and Kingston in the United States and Canada respectively.

The Quintiq solution will be integrated with SAP in the Alcan Rolled Products Europe business. Quintiq will be the standard supply chain scheduling software for Alcan supporting the SAP ERP solution. Quintiq will be implemented in a phased approach during 2003 and 2004.

The goal of the implementation in Europe is to help decrease the aggregated inventory of the business by 30%, reduce lead-times and increase productivity. Experience at the production site in Rogerstone, Wales (UK) has shown that significant increases in production output are also attainable, by using Quintiq to plan and schedule more efficiently.

The rolled products division in North-America carried out a thorough selection process: Mr. Joe Lawton, manager supply chain systems at Alcan in the USA says:"An exhaustive search was conducted for scheduling solutions in the metals industry, and Quintiq was found to be a best-fit world class solution. We hope to further leverage the successes achieved at the Alunorf and Rogerstone facilities."
