Vivent home care selects Quintiq planning solution
’s-Hertogenbosch, November 2, 2004 – Home care provider Vivent is to use Quintiq's planning software in the ‘s-Hertogenbosch region to ensure the best possible match between clients' care needs and available care capacity. Quintiq's planning solution will enable Vivent home care rapidly, efficiently and automatically to match the services of 1,200 staff and 600 care assistants at six sites to the need for care of more than 7,000 clients.
The IT project manager with Vivent Thuiszorg: “The Quintiq software makes an enormous contribution to our endeavour to achieve the best quality of care and services. Our planning is a complex process with many variables. Until now, our people have planned mainly by hand, using Excel spreadsheets, Word documents or the traditional planning boards. Planning in this way is time-consuming and error prone. The carers are subsequently issued with their plans on paper, and they complete two timesheets by hand each week for the preceding period. In the new situation, the process will not only be faster, but the provision of care will also be better matched to the demand. The interests of the clients will be directly translated into the automated planning and registration system. Besides being a more efficient way of working, it will also enable us to improve the quality of the care.”
Vivent home care is currently developing a fully integrated systems approach to the registration, administration, and planning processes that surround the primary process. This process starts with the demand for care, from which the account manager puts together a care package with the client. This package is the basis for planning, where the capacity and specific expertise of staff are linked to the client needs. The great variation in availability levels and the personal nature of the care packages make the planning process extremely dynamic and complex. The use of the new Quintiq planning system guarantees clients care that is tailored to their needs. Furthermore, carers can respond faster and more appropriately to planning changes caused by emergencies or overruns.
Staff receive the client data on a Pocket PC, so they can always see clearly what care has to be provided. Any changes will also be available to staff immediately. When care has been provided to the client, the carer records the time expended and the activities performed. There is therefore continuous real-time insight into the care process for planners, administrative staff and carers. The data that staff enter into the Pocket PCs are input automatically into the billing and salary processes.
The implementation is scheduled for March 2005, from when two sites will go live each month with the Quintiq-based planning system. Implementation partner for this project is ATOS
