P&O Nedlloyd selects Quintiq planning software

's-Hertogenbosch, Rotterdam, March 1, 2005 – Shipping company P&O Nedlloyd is to use Quintiq planning software to achieve improvements worldwide in tactical repositioning planning for managing their fleet of approximately 600,000 containers. The strategic importance of the application and the benefits of improved planning led P&O Nedlloyd to embark on a survey of the specific software available. The company opted for Quintiq planning software following a selection process involving a number of suppliers. The flexibility, scalability and adaptability of the Quintiq software combined with Quintiq's expertise were important reasons for the selection.

“The main task of the Quintiq software will be to gather information faster and more intelligently for the optimum planning of the empty container flows”, explains Jan Piet Baars, P&O Nedlloyd's Director of Planning & Flow management. “Now that we can model a wide variety of ‘what if’ scenarios, we will be in a position to handle the empty container flows more efficiently”. P&O Nedlloyd is scheduling the introduction of the new planning system for mid 2005.
