Royal Netherlands Navy selects Quintiq for flight planning
Flexible planning of flight squadron's activities
's-Hertogenbosch, Den Helder, July 5, 2005 - The Royal Netherlands Navy will deploy software provided by Quintiq for planning flights of the Maritime Helicopters Group, which is stationed at the ‘De Kooi’ navy base in Den Helder. The Maritime Helicopters Group will use the planning software to enable a more efficient use of manpower and resources. IT and business consultancy firm Capgemini will implement the software.
A large number of factors have an impact on flight planning. Pilots for example have to be in the air for a certain number of hours and have to practice skills in order to keep their qualification. This is partly done in a simulator.
The Royal Netherlands Navy chose Capgemini and Quintiq after an in-depth orientation into the more efficient planning of helicopter flights.
The Maritime Helicopters Group of the Royal Netherlands Navy consists of No. 7 and 860 Squadrons and its own maintenance service. Flight Squadron 7 is the search and rescue and training squadron. It assists in emergencies at sea.
