Analyst Firm Positions Quintiq for Supply Chain Planning in Process Manufacturing Industries Report

The 2006 Supply Chain Planning in Process Manufacturing Industries Magic Quadrant Report just released

's-Hertogenbosch/Mannheim, April 18, 2006 – Quintiq announced today that Gartner, Inc., the world's leading provider of research and analysis about the global information technology industry, has positioned Quintiq in the magic quadrant in its March, 2006 report titled, “Magic Quadrant for Supply Chain Planning in Process Manufacturing Industries, 1H06.” The Magic Quadrant evaluates vendors on their completeness of vision and ability to execute and includes criteria such as vendor and product capabilities, breadth and depth and customer feedback.

According to Gartner, a Supply Chain Planning (SCP) suite is a multi-product SCP software application that includes supply chain collaboration, supply chain network design, capacity and material planning, demand planning, manufacturing planning and scheduling, distribution and deployment planning and transportation planning.

Gartner also states, “Within process manufacturing SCP, the focus on complex business processes, such as sales and operations planning, is emerging as one of these new areas of innovation, although the concept is not new. What is new is the practical realization of what technology is needed and available to support sales and operations planning, and the different industry templates that vendors can bring to market to help end users implement technology faster.”

Quintiq provides advanced planning, scheduling and supply chain management solutions for a wide range of metal companies. The fast-growing Dutch company, established in 1997, offers software for planning, optimizing and automating complex business processes throughout the entire company. The Quintiq Application Suite integrates all relevant planning information into a single system, avoiding repeated entry of the same order and creating transparency along the entire supply chain. The Quintiq software enables companies to react in real-time to, e.g., changes in production and disruptions caused by machine breakdowns by offering alternatives.

The market for Supply Chain Planning (SCP) grew by approximately $40 million to a total of approximately $741 million in 2005. In 2006, it is forecast to grow to approximately $784 million.

“Quintiq provides some of the industry's most innovative Advanced Planning and Scheduling solutions to optimize business processes,” said Arjen Heeres, COO at Quintiq. “We feel Gartner’s placement of Quintiq in the magic quadrant is confirmation of our continuous investment in innovative software solutions that increase asset utilization and improve customer service in the metal sector”
