Hamburg’s Largest Day Care Center Company Opts For Quintiq Personnel Planning Solution
’s-Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands, 27th August 2007. The largest association managing day care centers for children in Hamburg, Germany has decided to purchase the leading advanced planning & scheduling solution provided by Quintiq. It will be used to optimize the planning of some 4,000 day care personnel. The association (“Vereinigung") runs 173 day care centers for some 23,000 children living across the urban area. Its market share in Hamburg is over 35 percent making it the largest day care center organization governed by private law in Germany.
The "Vereinigung" is a public nonprofit corporation of the city of Hamburg. The company sets high quality standards for pre-school education and offers reliable services requested by parents. All day care centers share common learning principles; however, every day care center operates independently according to its needs.
To ensure child development and dependable care, professional personnel planning is a critical success factor. Several aspects need to be considered in the process and include the number of children using the facilities over the course of the day, the learning activities, personnel training, planning and parental meetings, related employee preferences and associated labor law. The company required a software planning tool which could manage these challenges. It was of utmost importance to find a solution which could interface seamlessly with the existing SAP personnel management and accounting system.
Dr. Martin Schaedel, responsible for business operations at the company, said that the use of the Quintiq tool will result in administrative cost reductions and further enhancement of planning quality. "Supervisors and other employees were very interested in the tool and key users involved in the evaluation of the Quintiq solution were particularly positive."
Björn Sänger, project leader at the “Vereinigung” stated: "Our planning requirements were comprehensive yet we wanted a simple-to-use solution. We also wanted real-time planning data up on the monitor to be able to react quickly and flexibly to incidents. Quintiq software is able to provide us with both."
Brigitte Netz, director of Human Resources at the association affirmed: “We evaluated various offers closely before we came to a decision on a provider. We were looking for something easy-to-use because in our day care centers the children come first and computer skills are secondary. Quintiq planning tool is just right for us."
Victor Allis, CEO of Quintiq, commented: "Efficient personnel planning and scheduling is a prerequisite not only for satisfied employees but also for their clients – in this case, children and their parents. Hamburg's day care center association has taken an important pivotal step to ensure its success today and in the future."
The project starts in November this year and is scheduled to go live in the first day care centers in summer 2008.
