‘s-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands, November 21st, 2007 – Quintiq, a leading provider of advanced planning and scheduling (APS) solutions has entered into a contract with NAV CANADA for the supply of an operational staff planning solution for their Air Navigation Services. NAV CANADA’s Air Navigation Service will rely on the Quintiq system to support its staff planning and scheduling process, intended to begin September 2008.

NAV CANADA operates Canada's civil air navigation service (ANS) which provides air navigation services, including air traffic control, airport advisory, flight information and other services in Canada and Canadian-controlled international air space. Leveraging technology solutions that are among the best in the aviation industry, NAV CANADA employs air traffic controllers, flight service specialists, electronic technologists, operational support specialists and other groups at more than 150 staffed sites across the country.

In the past decade, NAV CANADA has invested close to $1 billion in new systems and technologies to modernize and enhance the delivery of air traffic services and to improve safety and efficiency. The decision to update the planning and scheduling software of their air navigation service staff by employing the Quintiq solution is an example of NAV CANADA's dedication to utilizing advanced technologies to improve efficiency.

NAV CANADA chose the Quintiq Workforce Optimization solution for its flexibility and its ability to cope with the complex planning issues faced by NAV CANADA. Air navigation service operational staff planning must take into account numerous factors, including the skills and training certifications of individual employees, union and government regulations, and employee preferences while dealing effectively with frequent daily changes due to flight delays, weather conditions and technical problems.

"Being awarded the NAV CANADA contract affirms Quintiq's position as the leader in workforce oriented planning solutions," said Victor Allis, CEO at Quintiq. "Quintiq has a proven track record in successfully implementing workforce optimization solutions in large organizations, including those found in the aviation industry. NAV CANADA's choice is a confirmation of Quintiq's excellence in dealing with complex workforce scheduling needs, with the added possibility of employees being able to select preferred shifts.”
