Quintiq Launches Version 4.3 of Its Planning Software

Enhanced Scalability and Performance Enable Companies to Increase Productivity & Adapt System to Changing Needs

's-Hertogenbosch, January 20, 2010 – Quintiq, a leading provider of Advanced Planning and Scheduling (APS) solutions, today announced the release of version 4.3 of its software. This release adds several important new features and benefits, including improved scalability, enhanced performance and accelerated responsiveness. In addition, users of the new software version will enjoy a more intuitive and easier to use interface with faster displays, and more responsive scrolls and refreshes.

Software that keeps up with business
As Quintiq customers’ businesses grow, the amount of data involved in planning and scheduling also expands. With this new release, the Quintiq software can now more efficiently handle growing amounts of work without compromising performance or response time.

This means that existing users will notice faster response times when they input changes and request for data, enabling them to work with maximum productivity and minimal waiting time for processing. When new users are added to the system, even up to thousands of users, there will be no apparent degradation in response times. Additionally, as planning requirements change, due to company growth, market development or regulatory changes, new controls programmed into the software will allow the Quintiq system to be easily adapted and reconfigured to keep pace with the evolving business.

Improved scalability for growing companies
The scalability-improving features added to version 4.3 of the Quintiq software include:

  • Dataset filtering – Controls each user’s utilization of the system’s memory resources to prevent it from growing too big when users subscribe to multiple datasets.
  • Streamlined thin client interface – Centralizes the user interface definition to limit duplications of the shared code. As a result, an increase in the number of users has only a minimal effect on memory usage.
  • Enhanced data model handling – Internal versioning of datasets improves concurrency and eliminates data access conflicts between clients. This accelerates responsiveness system-wide.
  • Multiplexer – Version 4.3's new, fully configurable multiplexing system simplifies dataset connection resolution. It also opens the way to future support for load sharing and multi-version support.
  • Client responsiveness – Slow Internet connections can reduce the apparent responsiveness of the system. In version 4.3, the system predicts likely user behavior so the real-world response time to user actions is almost instantaneous. 


Improved user experience
Version 4.3 also offers enhanced graphical data displays in the form of sophisticated display caching for better scroll and pan responses; improved algorithms for time-critical calculations such as threshold displays; and extended configuration properties that allow a closer tuning of data and display matching.

In addition, in version 4.3 log files are created in XML form to provide a rich set of diagnostic data concerning the system.
