Analyzing a Planning Problem and Specifying a Solution Using Quintiq

During this training, business consultants will learn how to specify an optimized planning and scheduling solution that supports the customer's business goals. Understanding how to analyze a prospect/ customer’s planning process is pivotal in this specification. The training will also suggest ways a business consultant can ensure the needed focus on the business goals during the subsequent activities of delivering the planning application to the customer.

A good understanding of advanced planning and scheduling
General industry knowledge of metal, manufacturing, logistics or work force
Prior experience with the implementation of new (planning) processes

Training overview

Day one - Quintiq Overview
Topics from the 'Quintiq Overview Training' are presented. Please refer to the Quintiq Overview Training section for additional information.

Day two – Analyzing a planning process
Quintiq’s vision on advanced planning is revisited and participants are introduced to the “Analysis” phase of the Quintiq Project Life Cycle. Topics include:

  • Organizational planning, with several different practical models
  • Business analysis using a number of practical cases
  • Knowledge acquisition within Quintiq implementation projects and the various instruments needed to be successful 

Day three – Specifying the solution
Participants will specify a solution for the planning issues and learn how to keep the focus on the business goals during the “Modeling” and “Iterative Development” phases. Topics to be addressed are:

  • Modeling, visualization and optimization; discussion and application of the three-step Quintiq Vision
  • Modeling Quintiq projects, including common pitfalls
  • Iterative development of Quintiq projects and the roles of all involved, plus the pitfalls
  • Testing, knowledge validation and knowledge verification
  • Integration with other systems, from a functional and organizational point of view
  • Implementation, focusing on the organizational impact of the system, changing procedures, etc.
