After a PhD in Artificial Intelligence, I spent a few years as an assistant professor at the Free University of Amsterdam where I met Victor Allis and some of the other founders of Quintiq. My focus since joining Quintiq in 2000 has been on improving the ability of our software to provide a 100% fit - with minimal effort. In my current role as software product manager, I’m ideally placed to continue steering the software in this direction. When I'm not working, I enjoy board games – especially the oldest board game, Go, in which I’m now ranked 3rd dan. In Go the number of options is so large that a judicious combination of search and intuition is needed to play well. The best play is often one that best fits the game - with minimal moves; a nice parallel to my work at Quintiq.
