I graduated many moons ago from the University of Eindhoven as an industrial engineer, specializing in production and inventory control. My inspiration is something Einstein said: “If you can’t explain it to your grandmother, you don’t really understand it.” I try to translate difficult concepts into easy-to-understand nuggets of information. By Einstein’s standards, there are many things about ‘normal life’ I still don’t understand. Why do supermarkets sell quite so many kinds of shampoo and pasta? Why do furniture stores quote ridiculously long lead times – and still deliver late? In my free (or, sometimes, business) time, I roam the world to discover that Holland is heaven on earth. Oh, and it has the best coffee and beer, my favorite drinks.
