I was one of those kids who could never choose between arts and sciences. As a result, my first undergraduate study was mathematics and computing, followed by a switch to French and English literature. It was only after an extended period as an avionics engineer that I discovered the one career that allowed me to combine the two worlds; technical writing. In a career spanning 30 years, 3 continents and some fascinating fields that have included x-ray spectrometry (Philips), space science (European Space Agency), electronic design automation (Synopsys) and computer book writing (SGML, XML, HTML), I was lucky to find a new niche in Quintiq R&D where I am able to combine my love of languages of all kinds (human and computer) with my fascination with documentation as an engineering discipline and my passion for software usability.
