The Vlaamse Radio- en Televisieomroep (VRT) is a publicly-funded, radio and television broadcaster in Belgium.

At VRT, the Quintiq supply chain planning and optimization platform has been in use since 2004 in various departments. This includes the planning of staff and equipment in the newsroom, technical radio broadcasting resources, and production resources for TV and sports departments.

At the radio department, Quintiq is used to plan for approximately 150 staff members, 30 radio studios and all technical equipment. SAP is used to manage the business backbone processes of its broadcasting operations.

One of the key achievements for VRT was an overall increase in efficiency with Quintiq. The seamless integration between SAP and Quintiq enabled the broadcaster to optimize performance and utilization of all its resources with one flexible business model.
Due to this solution, we are able to do more with the same amount of people and resources. As a result of improved standardization, we have been able to increase the overall efficiency, can implement last-minute changes easily and provide better insight into the availability of people and their schedules. For this purpose, the planning system offers major flexibility, something that is crucial to a media environment.
