Quintiq Software Selected by Alcan Oswego Works for New Scheduling System

Quintiq, a supplier of enterprise wide solutions in advanced planning, scheduling and supply chain management and Alcan, a leader in aluminum, packaging and aluminum recycling, have signed an agreement to utilize Quintiq's software for scheduling aluminum production at its Oswego, New York rolled products facility.

Alcan's Oswegos' operation, which casts, remelts, and recycles aluminum, produces a varied product mix which requires shifting production frequently in order to be responsive to its customers' needs. The Quintiq scheduling software solution provides a solution in optimizing production scheduling for the Oswego plant's batch furnace charge, improvements in inventory management, material flow and enhance material usage.

The project is scheduled to be completed late summer 2004 and is the first phase of standardization for one of Alcan Rolled Products North America's business units.
