Quintiq proposes smart optimization to solve commoditization challenges at European 3PL Summit

October 21, 2014 | ‘s-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands

Quintiq, a global leader in supply chain planning and optimization (SCP&O), today announced that its EMEA Director, Frank Tinschert, will be hosting a workshop at the 3PL Summit, in Amsterdam on the 19th of November .

In line with one of the key summit topics of commoditized services and value-added offerings, Quintiq’s workshop will demonstrate how smart optimization technology can empower 3PL operators with a valuable competitive advantage. Participants in the workshop will perform a series of hands-on tasks and attempt to create an optimal plan for the parcel shipping industry.

“Logistics is no longer about moving a commodity from a-to-b. The end customer is now heavily involved in the entire process due to their increased demand for order and delivery transparency. Smart optimization technology can help 3PL providers deliver on this demand, by identifying where potential logistics or supply chain issues lie before the customer can detect them“, explains Mr Tinschert.

The workshop “Leveraging smart optimization technology: How to win the 3PL commoditization battle?” will identify:

  • The extent of potential consequences to any planning decision
  • The importance of putting company KPIs at the center of any plan
  • The limitations of relying on automation alone to optimize a plan
  • Why the best software is one that empowers – rather than replaces – planners

Quintiq will also host a booth on the main floor of the conference (booth 09) where experts will be available for one-to-one discussions on supply chain challenges.

The 3PL summit is Europe’s largest meeting of 3PL Providers and customers featuring the most influential industry thought leaders and hard-hitting sessions exploring new opportunities, technologies and markets in logistics.
