Australia starts the ball rolling for Quintiq World Tour

Loris Toffano
Quintiq World Tour Program Director

The 2018 edition of Quintiq World Tour is currently underway, with the Amsterdam event taking place on October 5 and Moscow on November 22. Together with Melbourne (Aug 7), Perth (Sept 7) and Philadelphia (Sept 20), these events bring together customers and prospects to explore the future of the world's value chains across a variety of industries.

This year's theme 'Reinvent the value chain: Managing uncertainty in the digital age,' represents the logical next step for organizations. As rapid advancements in technologies and processes amplify complexities in the world's value chains, organizations have no choice but to reinvent their business practices and ensure clarity of vision to get ahead of disruptions. This was highlighted in the keynote address by Quintiq CEO Rob van Egmond:

"This is now a world of bespoke solutions. In this digital world, our customers are experiencing complete customization and instant gratification. And they're now expecting it in their physical products and services as well. It’s an age of unprecedented technological innovations, but it's also a wake-up call to companies that still use the traditional ways to plan and react to the world."

In the same address, he showcased five key capabilities that enable organizations to better manage these uncertainties, regardless of industry. He also shared a few examples of Quintiq customers that have transformed their businesses — and their value chains — by implementing these capabilities into their operations.

Cross-industry roundtable engagement
Attendees are treated to powerful, in-depth presentations by Quintiq customers and industry experts. Speakers include market leaders such as Fonterra, Smithfield Foods, Boeing, Viva Energy, Unifeeder and Southwest Airlines; and thought leaders from Barkawi, ITC, DXC Technology, Snijder & Associates B.V. and Capgemini. Attendees came from a wide range of industries — oil & gas, manufacturing, rail, metals, retail, logistics, aviation and food processing.

Quintiq World Tour shook things up in Melbourne and Perth by narrowing the focus down to roundtable sessions focused on specific industries. Melbourne showcased F&B customer stories, while Perth shined a spotlight on natural resources. This allowed us to reach new segments of our audience. Most of our attendees this year were new to Quintiq World Tour.

Shared learnings from industry leaders
The events also give attendees the opportunity to network with the biggest companies in their relevant industries, such as BHP, Rio Tinto, Chevron, JBS and Mondelēz. The balance of thought leadership, academic and operational content contributed to an average assessment score of above 80% by attendees in Melbourne and Perth.

Engaging speakers and active Q&A discussions made the industry-focused breakout sessions and live industry demos in Philadelphia a hit with attendees. Discussions during breaks provided great opportunities for attendees to gain new insights, and benchmark with other users on Quintiq’s flexibility and scalability in solving their pressing issues, both current and future ones.

Attendees were also treated to a fascinating keynote presentation by Michael Hugos, the co-founder of SCM Globe and author of the worldwide best-selling Essentials of Supply Chain Management. He showcased the OODA Loop, a thinking process used in both military and business situations to create a rugged framework that guides decision-making.

The next stop for Quintiq World Tour is Amsterdam this week. The largest event in the World Tour series offers another superb speaker line-up, namely Bridgestone Europe, Falck and Jumbo Supermarkten. Attendees will also have the opportunity to test their planning skills and experience first-hand how Dassault Systemès is driving industrial renaissance.

The final stop of World Tour in 2018 will take place in Moscow on November 22. Registrations are still open, but seats are limited.
